john & stacy reinert - founders/proprietors

john and stacy come from significantly different backgrounds, but it was the spark of similar interests that led to one shared dream.

brilliant mistake wines is the result of that dream.

john's artistic background fueled rebelliousness, off the wall, free-thinking, and no-holds-bar risk-taking. stacy's strength and judgement inspired him and provided the foundation to support each and every risk.

with the benefit of two individuals taking risks together, they have produced and bottled what may just be the perfect representation of who they are, and what can be expected of them in their positively unpredictable future.

maayan koschitzky - winemaker

maayan comes to us by way of cult wineries screaming eagle, dalle valle, and atelier melka.

”spanning wine regions in israel, california, washington and chile, maayan has accumulated more winemaking experience in ten years than many enologists would in an entire career,” says inside winemaking magazine.

john and stacy loved maayan’s way of looking at life—his unbiased, fresh perspective on napa valley and the place and wines they’d grown to love.

they wanted a winemaker who could play off their energy and intuition, who could coax out the subtle nuances that would become the hallmarks of their style; to help craft wine rich in complexity and textures with only the raw, pristine grapes granted to them each vintage by mother nature; nothing added, nothing interfered with—just fresh, pure, and beautifully composed.
